• SINGAPORE CRICKET CLUB UNVEILS BIGGER, BETTER SCC RUGBY 7s
  

  SINGAPORE, 7 SEPTEMBER 2010 – Singapore Cricket Club, one of Asia’s leading sports and social clubs, has unveiled a new format for the world-famous Singapore Cricket Club International Rugby 7s. For the first time ever, the competition will be staged over three days and nights, with the first round of games being played under floodlights on the Padang on Friday 5 November. An expanded pool of 28 teams, including some of the finest international and invitational rugby teams from across the world, will compete for the coveted Ablitt Cup. Another debut on the first day of the tournament will be the first SCC 7s women’s competition, with Singapore competing against national teams from around the region.

  The 2009 tournament dates for the SCC International Rugby 7s are confirmed for 6-8th November and intend to incorporate the Schools & Colleges tournament into the same weekend. This will mean that some games will be played on the Friday.

  Congratulations to the SA Vipers for successfully defending their title in a close fought final against Davetalevu 10-5.
  
  Scottish Thistles beat new comers Cottesloe 19-7 for the Shield Final whilst the Thai Barbarians overcame Impala to take the Plate 24-19. Indonesia Barbarians, having accepted a last minute invitation 48hrs before claimed the Bowl final beating Kurumi 20-10.
